When & Booking
Ideally, newborn sessions happen within the first 1–2 weeks after birth — babies tend to be sleepier and easier to pose then.
Once you book, we’ll confirm the date after your baby is born.
Before the session:
Try to keep baby awake for about 1 hour before arriving. Give a full feed right before you leave home or once you arrive – a sleepy baby photographs best.
Dress baby in a loose, easy-to-remove onesie (zip or buttons). Avoid tight socks or elastic that may leave marks.
Pack baby’s essentials: milk/bottles, nappies, wipes, spare outfit, muslin cloth.
Please bring a dummy/pacifier – it is extremely helpful for calming and settling baby during posing. Even if you don’t normally use one, it can make the whole session smoother and more comfortable for baby. If you prefer not to keep using it afterwards, you can simply dispose of it after the session.
Please send me a few examples of the newborn photos you like from my Facebook @JOLESPHOTOS Newborn Album.
During the session:
The shoot can take 2–3 hours (or longer if needed). This allows plenty of time for feeding breaks, diaper changes, soothing, outfit changes, and capturing a variety of poses.
The studio will be warm for baby’s comfort, so please dress lightly.
Parents and siblings are welcome in the photos.
Clothing tips:
– Choose simple, neutral colours (whites, creams, pastels, greys).
– Avoid bright patterns, logos, or text.
– Coordinate but don’t match exactly – soft, harmonious tones work best.
You can relax – I will guide you through everything while keeping baby safe and comfortable.
This helps me prepare the colours, props, and set-ups you prefer.
